1931 Ford Model A Cabriolet
A Cabriolet is distinguished from a Roadster by the inclusion, (on the Cabriolet), of glass windows that roll up and down. The Cabriolet is less sporty and considered more luxurious because of its ability to keep the passengers out of the bad weather. It was a more expensive car as well.
This mid restoration 1931 Ford Model A Cabriolet literally could be bought and used as a daily driver with some minor upgrades. Close attention has been paid to the exterior as well as the mechanicals on this car, and it truly is usable on a regular basis. Beautiful color combo, and roll top windows as well as a secure convertible top, assures you of yearlong all season driving...
Exterior
Green paint, nice chromed trimmings and accenting and a white canvas convertible top are exactly what the original car would have looked like off the showroom floor. As are all Model A's, the fenders and slash aprons are painted black. Aurora lime green spoked wheels are on all four corners, as well as an additional spare tire uncovered hanging off the back of this car between the split rear bumper. A bottom hinged trunk lid can be flipped backwards to reveal an all-steel green painted trunk area that is awaiting the installation of a new rumble seat. In front a flying goose radiator cap ornament sits proudly on the shiny radiator cowl surround complete with blue oval Ford badge. A dual curved flat bar bumper is framing the bottom of the front end and as we move back on the vented cowled hood, we see a set of running lights for extra night vision. A pop out hinged windshield allows for airflow and works perfectly. Glass wing windows are noted off of either side, however, the roll up windows are missing. This includes the regulators and the glass. Paint shows some minor chipping particularly at the gaps. The canvas top is stained just a bit in the center near one of the supporting ribs underneath. It has a chromed landau bar on the back.
Interior
A covered seat, in off white broadcloth material is on the front bench. This grabs you into the single bench seat and allows for the driver and passenger to sit close and spoon while driving, (Not recommended!). A body matching dark green metal dash front houses the Ford shiny "mask styled" instrument cluster sitting in the center. It's framed on top by a beautiful brown painted metal nicely curved dash. Below tan carpeting is flooding the floors and is fairly clean. Inside the convertible are some water stains from previous leaks. As stated above, the door glass and window regulators are missing as are the interior door panels.
Drivetrain
A 201ci 4-cylinder single carb engine, produces 40hp, and is connected to a 3-speed manual sliding gear transmission. On the back is a 3.70 rear axle. The engine bay is very simply appointed and has most new electrics as it is now a 12-volt electrical system.
Undercarriage
Underside viewing of this car shows some surface rusting on the bottoms of the running boards. Floor pans, tube steel framing and other undercarriage bolt ons are clean and rust free. Transverse leaf springs are the simple suspension, and mechanical drum brakes are on all 4 corners.
Drive-Ability
The old gal starts right up and putters along nice and smoothly. Tight steering, and a little bumpy ride make it all worth it when the top is down. If it rains or gets too cold, put the top back up and head for shelter unless you've finished the restoration this car needs.
Harken back to 1931, pretend you had some extra money to spend, needed an automobile, and be able to drive it year-round. The Ford Cabriolet would cost you a little more, but it would fit the bill. This high option extra add on (from the dealership) is definitely one of the nicer Model A's that reside here at Classic Auto Mall. Beautiful exterior color combination takes you back to a time when you thought everything in the auto world was painted black. But this one leaves us green with envy!

Vehicle Pickup & Shipping:
All shipping charges are buyer's responsibility unless otherwise documented in sales agreement.
Deposit:
Buyer must contact us within 24 hours of accepted offer, and make arrangements for payment at that time. A 0 deposit is due within 48 hours of listings end to secure the vehicle.
Payment of Balance Due:
The remainder is due (plus applicable fees and taxes) within 7 days. If no contact is made within 24 hours we reserve the right to re-list the vehicle or sell it otherwise. All financial transactions must be completed before delivery of the vehicle.
Additional Fees and Taxes:
All Pennsylvania residents must pay applicable state and local tax, title and license fees. Out of state buyers are responsible for their own state taxes and fees. Out of state buyers are responsible for all state, county, city taxes and fees, as well as title/registration fees in the state that the vehicle will be registered.
Shipping:
The buyer is responsible for all shipping charges unless otherwise documented on the sales agreement.  We will assist the buyer with finding a shipping company. We assume no responsibility for damages incurred after leaving our premises. If the vehicle is going to be shipped, full payment must be received before the vehicle is delivered to the shipping company.
