Description
Included is - (1) paper photo copy that was signed in person by Skynyrd drummer Artimus Pyle, a few weeks ago at his residence. The check included was written to Lead singer Ronnie Van-Zant, who's name was mis-spelled in this check by Stan Polleys Assistant at the time. You will notice that it's spelled "Ronny" in what is an extremely rare error in the Lynyrd Skynyrd Collecting world! The check was written for his daily pay (2 days) on the 1974 tour while making their second album "Second Helping". Ronnie didnt always endorse his checks. He would send them back home to his wife and he apparently had an "Absence - of EndorsementGuarantee
" at the bank at "Florida National Bank Lakeshore" -->Please note that "Lakeshore" is the neighborhood here in Jacksonville, Florida where Ronnie Van-Zant was raised his entire life! Pretty cool item with all these different factors contributing to its rarity!!!
Al Kooper discovered Lynyrd Skynyrd playing in Georgia and subsequently started "Sounds of the South" and started producing their early albums - Kooper's manager was Stan Polley at the time, so when Kooper (went on tour to help manage his Skynyrd investment) he would have Stan Polley send him stacks of signed, post-dated checks when necessary for the bands services.
The lot also comes with 2 glossy Real Concert Photos from 1977 (5X7") on quality film paper that I assume are copies from a negative. Amazing pictures!
I was fortunate enough to purchase a comprehensive Skynyrd collection in their home town in which I live, that included stacks of concert photos, Itineraries, awards, checks etc. I was then able to meet Artimus because of my discovery and he was kind enough to sign some things for me. Thanks for looking and good luck!
